Attractions at Malabar Botanical Garden

The garden, which spans 40 acres and has over 10,000 different plant species, includes eight greenhouses for aquatic, shade-loving, medicinal, orchid, and primitive plants (such as ferns and mosses). Numerous rare and exotic plants may be found in the botanical garden, which is a facility run by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment.

Among the attractions at the MBGIPS are an aquatic plant conservatory, a protected area for lower-group plants, a taxonomic classification-based garden, a section dedicated to Rare Endangered and Threatened (RET) plant species, a herbal garden, a Gymnosperm section, and Hortus Valley, which is home to nearly all 700 of the plants listed in the Hortus Malabaricus.

Each plant has been given a QR code to aid visitors in understanding it. We will be taken to a page with comprehensive information about the plant when we scan the QR code adjacent to the signboards.

The conservation center, which has over 140 different types of ferns, is a visually appealing area of the garden. The property has a variety of indoor plants, including Pink Princess and Aglaonema. Venus flytraps and Nepenthes are two examples of the prey-hunting plant species found in the carnivorous house. There is also a vast variety of medicinal plants in the five-acre garden.

How to Reach

The garden is located at Olavanna, about 8 km from the city of Kozhikode. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all business days.

SM Street, Sarovaram Biopark, Kozhikode Beach, and Mayiladumkunnu Viewpoint are a few of the neighboring tourist destinations.
